CBD is short for cannabidiol, one of more than 60 unique compounds found in cannabis plants. It is non-psychoactive (it won’t get you high). CBD works with our body’s own endocannabinoid system, which helps us maintain biological balance, or homeostasis.
Our products incorporate CBD extracted from the hemp plant, which is in the cannabis family, but is NOT marijuana. Industrial hemp has less than 1% THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, the cannabis compound that IS psychoactive. Industrial hemp is grown worldwide and is also the source of non-CBD derivatives with myriad commercial uses. When extracted from industrial hemp, CBD is legal in all 50 states. CBD is safe and well-tolerated in high doses.
What can CBD do for you?
Studies show evidence CBD can help protect the nervous system and brain, act as an anti-inflammatory, and relieve nausea, among other benefits. It also shows promise for treating psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Based on rigorous clinical trials, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2018 approved a CBD-based drug by a British pharmaceutical company to treat seizures in certain types of childhood epilepsy. Research on CBD has been limited in the United States mostly due to inconsistent government intervention and federal laws that have not kept up with progressive state laws. The growing pubic awareness and demand for CBD is changing that.
